1. Summary
All payments to Okular are final and non-refundable. There are only two exceptions:
- The law requires a refund. If applicable law gives you a right to a refund that cannot be waived, we will honor it (Section 5).
- We charged you in error. For example, a duplicate charge, or a charge for a service we could not provide at all (Section 4).
No other reason qualifies for a refund. That includes changing your mind, not using a service, cancelling, and deleting a backup.
2. What This Policy Covers
This policy applies to every payment made to Okular LLC ("Okular," "we," "us," or "our"), including:
- game server hosting subscriptions and setup fees;
- server backups and backup extensions;
- custom scripting, configuration and other one-time services.
This policy forms part of our Terms of Service. If anything else we have said or written describes refunds differently, this policy applies, unless we have agreed otherwise with you in a signed written agreement.
3. No Refunds
Unless Section 4 or Section 5 applies, we do not refund any payment, in whole or in part. In particular, none of the following entitles you to a refund:
- changing your mind after paying, or no longer needing the service;
- time, storage or features you paid for but did not use, including part of a month or part of a backup's storage term;
- cancelling a subscription (cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for);
- deleting a backup: this removes it from your account permanently, but does not shorten its term or change what you paid;
- not using the restore included with a backup;
- problems caused by your own files, scripts, configuration, game licences or third-party software;
- suspension or termination of your services because you broke our Terms of Service;
- a price change that takes effect after your purchase.
4. Charges Made in Error
If Okular charged you in error, we will refund the amount charged in error. A charge is made in error only when:
- you were charged more than once for the same purchase;
- you were charged more than the amount you authorized; or
- you were charged for a service that Okular could not provide at all. For example, you paid to extend a backup that had already been removed.
We refund the amount charged in error to the payment method you used, through PayPal. If we find such an error ourselves, we will refund it without waiting for you to ask.
5. Refunds Required by Law
Nothing in this policy limits any right to a refund that applicable law gives you and that cannot be waived by agreement. Where such a right applies, we will provide the refund the law requires.
6. Amounts We Never Charge
Some amounts you may see on your PayPal account are never charged in the first place. Releasing them is not a refund.
6.1 Server backup holds
When you order a backup, PayPal places a hold (an authorization) for the maximum amount shown in your quote. We then charge only for the backups that complete and are verified, priced on their verified size. We never charge more than the maximum.
- The rest of the hold is released when we take the final charge.
- A backup that fails is not charged.
- If no backup in an order completes, the whole hold is released and nothing is charged.
How quickly a released hold disappears from your statement depends on PayPal and your bank, not on Okular.
7. How to Report an Error
Email support@okularservices.com within 60 days of the charge (or any longer period the law allows) with:
- the PayPal transaction ID, date and amount;
- the account or server the charge relates to;
- a short description of the error.
We aim to respond within 5 business days. If we confirm the charge was made in error, we issue the refund through PayPal.
8. Payment Disputes
Please contact us before opening a dispute with PayPal or a chargeback with your card issuer. Most problems are resolved faster directly.
If you do open a dispute or chargeback, we may give the payment processor our records of the purchase. These include:
- the terms you accepted, and the time, account, IP address and device (browser and operating system) you accepted them from;
- what was delivered.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we keep these records.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. A new version applies to purchases made on or after its effective date; the version in effect when you made a purchase applies to that purchase. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where reasonably practicable, notify active customers by email.
